Services for Mary Lee Ashford, 84, of Gainesville are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells, with William Eudy and Harley Tepertiller officiating, and preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Woodland Park in Mineral Wells under the direction of the Geo. J. Carrol & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ashford died March 22, 2008, at the Renaissance Care Center.

She was born April 7, 1923, in Trenton to William and Maude Brown Wilson. In March 1941, she married Hollis Ashford in San Antonio. She was a former resident of Mineral Wells, was a member of the Commerce Street Church of Christ and was a member of the Zonta Club, and the Sojourner Group associated with the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. In Mineral Wells, she and her husband ran the True Value Hardware Store. She enjoyed cooking for her family, reading and sewing.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ben Van Etten of Williamington, N.C., Roseann and Jerry Moore of Gainesville, Lisa and James Baird of Baird; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Luz Ashford of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sue McCullum and Lora Smith, both of Whitewright, Kathy Jarian of Detroit, Mich., and Barbara Mathis of Sherman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Hollis Ashford on Aug. 30, 2003.

Pallbearers are Chris and John Van Etten, Chris and Kielyn Lewis, Shane Nichols, Shawn Chapman, Dakota Nichols and Bat Masterson.

Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
