Services for Elizabeth “Betty” Culp Dodson, 88, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Yeager officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Dodson died March 2, 2008, at River Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born June 9, 1920, in Gainesville to John W. and Elizabeth Bird Kennerly Culp. Betty Dodson attended Gainesville Public Schools and was a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Friendship Sunday School Class and the Mizpah Circle of the United Methodist Women organization. Her special area of service was Missions.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Culp and Lanita Dodson of Gainesville; son-in-law, Bobby McGee of Victoria, Va.; grandchildren, Mike McGee and Tracy Gee, both of Victoria, Va., and Shane Foster of Walnut Bend; two great-grandchildren; nephew and his wife, Kenny and Gloria Culp of Marquet, Mich.; niece and her husband, Lisa and Bill Blancher of Austin; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Louanne Dodson McGee; her parents; and brothers, Samuel Kennerly Culp and John Douglas Culp; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Culp.
Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missions Commission of First United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
