HARRY T. “BUD” HAUGH
Harry T. “Bud” Haugh, 84, of Gainesville died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Pecan Tree Manor. He was born July 27, 1923, in Mannington, West Virginia, to Tolbert O. and Esther (nee Sybert) Haugh. He married Amelia Lou “Mimi” (nee Fisher) Haugh, on June 4, 1948, in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Bud graduated from Mannington schools and attended Fairmont State College in Fairmont, West Virginia. He enlisted in the navy during World War II and was stationed on the west coast training enlistees.
After the war, he returned to Fairmont State, graduating in 1947. He was listed in the Who’s Who of American Colleges.
Bud started his career as a high school coach and teacher. He left teaching to work for Continental Emsco and retired after 32 years with the company and moved to Lake Kiowa in 1984.
Bud loved golf, baseball, a good mystery novel and a classic movie. He remained true-blue to his beloved Dallas Cowboys, even when he lived in Chicago and Pittsburgh. But most of all, he loved his wife and best friend, Mimi.
Mimi, his wife of 60 years, survives him along with a son, Jan Haugh, and daughter-in-law, Jana of Fort Worth; daughter, Sharon Haugh of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, also of Fort Worth. He is also survived by a brother, Jack A. Haugh of Pawley’s Island, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 at the Lake Kiowa Lodge in Lake Kiowa, Texas, officiated by Rev. J.L. Williams.
