Eddie Clark Pilkilton

Eddie Clark Pilkilton, Jr., 78, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2009, after a 23 year battle with heart disease. Born December 26, 1930, in Denison, Texas, he was the son of Eddie Clark Pilkilton, Sr., and Ruth Ollie (Ashley) Pilkilton. He graduated from Denison High School in 1947, and started his career with Babcock’s Auto Sales at age 14. He married the love of his life, Jerry A. Poynor, on May 29, 1958. They started their married life in Waxahachie where Eddie took the position of Manager of the Babcock’s store there. Three children and twelve years later, they moved back home to Denison where he managed the store there for 30 more years. He was a member of the Denison Kiwanis Club for many years and enjoyed taking part in serving his community. He also served our country for 10 years, as a Master Sergeant in the National Guard. He was a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church and dearly loved his church family.

After his heart issues began in 1987, he focused mainly on getting better after each surgery so that he could spend time with his family and friends, enjoying traveling to Branson with family, baking his cakes and brownies, as well as playing cards and dominos with his family and friends… to know him was to love him.

Eddie Pilkilton is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jerry, son Denis Pilkilton of Denison, daughter Lori Kremling and husband Larry of Gainesville, daughter Jana Dennis and husband Dale of Denison, grandsons Cody Kremling and wife Megan of Allen, Ryan Kremling of Gainesville and Zakariah Dennis of Denison, granddaughter Ashley Beane and husband Randy of Dallas, and great-granddaughter Audrey Mae Kremling of Allen, sister Dorothy Chambers of Del Rio, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews along with many cousins.

The family night will be at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas, on Wednesday, July 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. and the service will be at Calvary Baptist Church in Denison, Texas, on Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m., with longtime friend Reverend Carl Bilderback and Reverend Danny Broughton presiding. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of George J. Carroll Funeral Home in Gainesville, Texas.

Pallbearers are Claud Poynor, David Huffman, Jerry Wynn, Arnie Arneson, Richard Gearinger and Troy Hanes.
