CECILIA AUGUSTA FLUSCHE HERMES
LINDSAY — Mass of Christian Burial for Cecilia Augusta Flusche Hermes, 100, of Lindsay is set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ron Scheible, O.S.A., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Hermes died April 16, 2008, at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville.
She was born Dec. 27, 1907, in Lindsay to Wilhelm and Anna Fuhrmann Flusche. On Feb. 15, 1927, she married Julius Hermes in St. Peter’s Church. Cecilia Hermes was a Lindsay native and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society and the St. Cecilia’s Choir. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; great-great-grandmother, and good friend and neighbor.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella and Billy Zimmerer of Lindsay, Patsy and John David Fleitman and Mary Ann and Earl Hess of Muenster; sons and daughters-in-law, C. William and Mary Hermes of Hood, Julius and Clara Hermes and Richard and Edna Hermes of Lindsay, Walter and Joann Hermes and Patrick and Carol Hermes of Gainesville; 40 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Elvira Flusche and Theresa Hermes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Hermes on June 21, 1995; by a great-grandson, Chad Patrick Hermes; her parents, Wilhelm and Anna Flusche; by her brothers, Paul and William Flusche; and by her sisters, Christina Voth and Zita Fleitman.
Pallbearers are grandchildren, Glenn, Kenneth, David and Dwayne Hermes; Janet Bayer, Douglas Fleitman, Kelly Russell, and Alethea Kindiger.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
