Services for Paul deLassus, 81, of Lake Kiowa, Texas for the past 25 years, are set for 11:00 am on Wednesday, Jan 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville, with Father Pat Murphy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas on Thursday. Paul was born August 20, 1926 in New Orleans, La. to Julia and Emile deLassus. On October 21, 1950 he married Evelyn Duplantier of New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, spending 36 “Days of Hell” in Iwo Jima. He was one of 6 out of 60 marines in his platoon who left the island without major injuries. After the war, he finished L.S.U. with a degree in Accounting. He continued his studies and became a Certified Public Accountant working 30 years with the US General Accounting Office until his retirement in 1983. He is survived by a loving family including his wife, Evelyn, his sons, Bruce, Gary, Robert and John, his daughters, Michele and Renee, son in law, Richard, daughters-in-law, Kathy, LeeAnn, Diana and Sarah, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County, P. O. Box 936, Gainesville, TX 76241-0936.
