MELINDA BRYANT BRUCE

Services for Melinda K. Bryant, 58, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Gray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Ms. Bryant died April 25, 2008, at River Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Sept. 24, 1949 in Shreveport, La., to Oscar Ray and Christine Eastman Sikes.

On Jan. 8, 1965, she married James D. Bruce. She completed her education in the Lindsay ISD. She was a wife, a mother and a homemaker as well as a member of the Clements Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Randall Bryant of Gainesville; father, Oscar Ray Sikes of Gainesville, children, Sharon Barnes, Michael and Lisa Bruce, Donna and Greg Dennington, Kevin and Cody Bruce and Nathan Bruce all of Gainesville; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews; silbings, Franklin Ray Sikes, W.C. Sikes, Randy Allen Sikes and Christopher Wendellen; in-laws, Nell and Harold Bryant, several other sisters and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Bruce, by her mother, Christine ‘MaMaw’ Sikes and by a brother, W.C. Sikes.

Pallbearers are Jeremy and Jared Barnes, Dray Dennington, Randy Jo Sikes, Steven Nottingham and Jerry Beaver.

Honorary pallbearers are Bobby and Jared Sewell.

Visitation is planned for 8 p.m. Sunday at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
