Funeral services for Earle Scribner, 93, of Gainesville, are set for Thursday August 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Commerce Street Church Of Christ with the Ronnie Quaid officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Scribner passed away at North Texas Medical Center on Monday August 3, 2009. Services are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Scribner was born on February 26, 1916 in Avery, Mississippi to Felix and Annie Scribner. Mr. Scribner worked for 20 years at the Brown Motor Company in the service department. He taught Auto Mechanics at North Central Texas College in Gainesville until he retired. He was a member and an elder at the Hillcrest Church of Christ for twenty years. He loved to preach on Sundays at the Renaissance Nursing Home until his eye sight failed then he helped out with the singing.

Mr. Scribner is survived by his wife Aleta Scribner; sons: James and his wife Laura Scribner, Clifton and his wife Juanita Scribner; Step - Sons: Morris Morgan, John Morgan, and Boyce Morgan; Step - Daughter: Shannon Durham; 5 Grand children: David Scribner, Steve Scribner, Ken Scribner, Mike Scribner and Shauna Scribner and 11 great - grand children.

Mr. Scribner was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and wife of 59 years, Vera lee Scribner.
