Funeral services for Leta Mae Bridges Reeves, 88, of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Chennault officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Leta Mae was born March 2, 1921 in Bulcher to Asburry and Mossie Walker Bridges. She married Earnest E. Reeves on Dec. 18, 1936 in Gainesville. Leta Passed away on August 30, 2009 at River Valley Health Care Center.
At a very early age, Leta became a member of the Bulcher Shiloh Baptist Church. She was well known for her iris garden and was noted as the "Iris Lady on Highway 82". She loved to work in her yard and garden and was well known for her quilts.
Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Bill Hamer of Lindsay; daughter, Patricia Erlandson of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Leigh Reeves of Denison; son, Danny Reeves of Gainesville; grandchildren, Tara Lynn Rubsamen, Tony Erlandson, Brandi Sanders, Corey Reeves and Tyler Reeves; great-grandchilden, Preston, William, and Ireland Shea Rubsamen, Christopher, Rachel, and Nicolas Sanders and Ashley Erlandson and a great-great-granchild Kelsey Erlandson. She is also survived by two sisters; one brother and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest in 1987; one sister and five brothers.
There will be a visitation held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 from 7-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County or the Leta Mae Reeves Scholarship Fund at NCTC.
