James Lawrence “J.L.” Jones went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 15, 2008, at 7:10 a.m. He was born on Oct. 31, 1925, to Hosea Lamar and Mary Campbell Jones in Monte Vista, Colo. He spent most of his life as a contractor, but his greatest achievement was as a father and a grandfather. J.L. loved creating stained glass pieces, the “great outdoors”, Sunday morning crossword puzzles, the Dallas Cowboys and dancing the night away with his wife, Marjorie Evelyn Kehler Jones. He will always be remembered for his gentle smile, tender laugh and witty sense of humor.
J.L. is survived by his four children, son, James Lee Jones of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Jones of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Leon Jorgenson of Irving and daughter, Michelle Cannon of Providence.
His legacy will forever live on through his ten surviving grandchildren, Hanz Jorgenson, James C. Jones, Hunter Jorgenson, Kerrie Alford, Ashley Robertson, Leslie Scoggin, LeeAndra Cannon, Melanie Cannon, Lucas Cannon, and Justin Ashlock. He also had seven great-grandchildren by whom he will greatly be missed. J.L. was proceeded in death by his parents, Hosea and Mary Jones; wife, Marjorie Jones and granddaughter, Heidi Kay Jorgenson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 7, 2008, at Providence Village Gathering Room, 809 Oakcrest, Providence Village.
