HICKORY CREEK — Services for Christopher Lee Banks, age 38, are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, with the Rev. Wade Smith officiating.
Mr. Banks died Dec. 7, 2008, in Hickory Creek.
Chris passed from this earthly home and joined his Father in Heaven on Dec. 7, 2008. He was born on Oct. 22, 1970 in Sherman as the third child of Donald and Joyce Banks. He attended Callisburg, Sivells Bend and graduated From Gainesville High School in 1989 and later joined the U.S. Army. Chris took great pride in his service as an Army Ranger where he advanced to the rank of E-5 Sgt and was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After the war he married his sweetheart, Jodi Brannan, on September 28, 1991 and three handsome sons followed while his military career took him across the USA and from Washington State to Fla.
Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge he set upon his career in restaurant management where he rose to the top in all jobs he had as well as having time for all his family. Chris is remembered by those who knew him for his zest for life, admiration, and impersonations of Elvis, his skill as a salesman, love of his family, as well as his competition in many marathon races including the White Rock and Boston. He richly blessed the life of all that were lucky enough to know him. He will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Jodi; sons, Payton, Brady and Braxton of Lake Dallas; mom, Joyce Banks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Connie Brannan; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mitzie and Ron Underwood; brother, Donald Banks of Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Richard Krause of Denton; sister-in-law, Kelly Tidwell of Durant, Okla; and brother-in-law, Randy Brannan of Gainesville. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Banks, Sr.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 .
In lieu of flowers, friends of the family have set up a memorial fund for the family.
