CHARLES HUNEYCUTT

WALNUT BEND ROAD — Services for Charles Huneycutt, 66, of Walnut Bend Road, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville with Rev. Gene Gordon of Callisburg United Methodist Church officiating. Speakers will be Charlene Brown, Earnest Elbert, Buddy Williams, and Zeke Burt. Interment will follow in the Huneycutt Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Huneycutt died July 16, 2008, at his residence.

He was born March 16, 1942, in Odessa to W.R. “Ray” and Minnie Presnall Huneycutt. On Aug. 20, 1961, he married Fonda Williams at the Callisburg United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Callisburg High School and earned First Place in the University Scholastic League Declamation Contest in May 1960. He served as the state FFA vice president in 1961. He earned a B.S. degree in 1969 at Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in education in 1976, also at Texas A&M. He taught school in Navasota and Aubrey, and was principal at the Valley View School, and later was superintendent at Tioga and Walnut Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Fonda Huneycutt; son and daughter-in-law, Harrell and Karen Huneycutt; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Joao Oliveira; five grandchildren, Harrison and Hannah Wellman, Audrey and Addison Huneycutt and Mia Oliveira; sister, Marilyn Huneycutt Simmons; in-laws, G.C. and Polly Williams and Joe and Brenda Williams and Sue Terry; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanice Huneycutt Durrett; and a niece and a nephew, Denise Durrett and Paul Durrett II; and by a niece, Becky Terry Karlick.

Pallbearers are Hal Dick, Vernon Morrison, Jerry Conner, Sewell Cox, Watt LaRue, Danny Anderson, Gordon Smith and Van Knight.

Honorary pallbearers are Wenceslao Navarro, Mike Rigler, Arvel, Cecil, Weldon, David, Leon and Paul Huneycutt; Gerald Riney, Jimmy O’Brien; Eddie, Wesley, and Mike Ballew; Leta George, Reba Young; Doug Martin, Lynn Vessels, Jerry Terry, Larry Threadgill, Bill Wellman, and Danny Keeling.

Cemetery attendants are Alex and Levi Terry, Joe Wayne Williams and John Simmons.

Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
