Krista Erin Brewer, the beloved and cherished daughter of Justin and Janice Brewer, was called home at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at the tender age of 11. For 11 years, Krista battled cancer. She bravely fought with the strength of a soldier while maintaining the grace and beauty of a ballerina, teaching life’s lessons along the way. She will forever live on in the hearts and minds of thousands around the world who knew her both in person and through her website which recorded her incredible journey.

On a glorious Thursday afternoon, Krista was born at Gainesville Memorial Hospital on May 15, 1997. In addition to her parents, she is survived by big sister, Shelby, who adored her.

Other special loved ones include her grandparents, Chris Webb of Guthrie, Okla., Valarie and Mike Blake of Gainesville, Juanell Branyan of Callisburg, and Kevin and Louise Brewer of Gainesville.

Great-Grandmothers include Ruby Webb of Grapevine, Nora Mae Conaway of Gainesville, and Jeri Wells of Gainesville.

Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many family friends, school friends and teachers.

Greeting her at Heaven’s gates were her Great-Uncle John Boulware; and Great-Grandmother, Claudia Brewer.

With an outgoing and bubbly little personality, her interests included: drinking Dublin Dr. Pepper, eating her Sour Cream & Cheddar Lays potato chips, drawing/painting, playing on the computer, watching cartoons and cuddling with her puppy, Stella. Krista also enjoyed riding motorcycles, swimming, singing, playing with friends and cousins. She adored her teachers, principals, friends, cousins, and the wonderful volunteers and staff members at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where she spent lots of days and nights. Krista also enjoyed the Relay for Life. In 2006, Krista was honored by the American Cancer Society as a Hero of Hope.

Throughout her young life, Krista was able to touch the lives of many with her compassionate personality, incredibly bright mind, captivating smile, and her continuous bursts of giggles. Krista is a “pint-sized hero” with a huge heart.

Pallbearers are Scott Hazel, Joe Hoedebeck, Vance Wells and Clegg Hazel.

Honorary pallbearers are the Cross Timbers Christian Motorcycle Association.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Krista Erin Brewer “Sunshine” Scholarship fund at First State Bank of Gainesville and Cooke County Home Hospice.
