Eddie Mages

February 26, 1914 — July 23, 2009

Eddie Mages, born Edmund Theodore on February 26, 1914 in Custer City, OK to Frank Wenzel and Anna Rushenburg Mages, went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2009.

He married Evelyn Wimmer on November 27, 1941 in Muenster, TX and on October 22, 1942 he enlisted in the Army and served in both the Army and Air Force until November 20, 1945. He worked most of his live in construction, retiring from Fox and Jacobs Home Builders in February, 1979 after 26 years of service. He enjoyed dancing, shooting pool, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Mages, a son Edmund Mages, a granddaughter, Marsha Hunter Clark, brothers, Joseph, Frank, Leo, Carl, Anton and Aloys Mages and sisters, Mary Grewing, Anna Fleitman, Dora Berend, Cecilia Berend and Jane Kinstly.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Mages of Farmers Branch, son, David Mages of Murchison, TX, daughters, Shirley Norton of Carrollton, TX, Barbara Cleveland of Jasper, AL, Nancy Logan and Rosemary Corey both of Farmers Branch, TX, sister, Betty Yosten of Muenster, TX, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Edmund Hunter, Kenny Corey, Bobby Chandler, Michael Logan, Leslie Mages and Ronnie Norton.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Rosary and visitation will be at 6:00 PM on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
