Services for June Davison McCain, 91, of Gainesville, are set for Saturday October 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. There will be a visitation held THURSDAY October 15, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs McCain was born June 1, 1918 in McCaulley, Texas to William Franklin and Bertha Lillian Nickless Davison. She graduated from McCaulley High School in 1936. June received a Bachelors of Education in 1941 from North Texas Teachers College, and later her Masters of Education in Guidance Counseling from North Texas State University in 1963. June Married Horace K. McCain August 22, 1942 in Gainesville.

June taught Physical Education at the Junior High and High School for 15 years in Gainesville, and was the Guidance Counselor for 18 years at the High School. After retiring June served on the GISD board for 12 years. She was a Green Jacket at NTTC and a member of the National Honorary Fraternity for P.E. Majors, Delta Si Kappa. She was also involved in the Retired Teachers Association, serving as President, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Cooke County Welfare Board, and a member of Gainesville Senior Citizen Foundation. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville since 1941.

June is survived by her husband Horace K. McCain of Gainesville, her sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth N. and Sheri McCain of Beaumont, and Kyle H. and Martha McCain of Clute, daughter and son-in law Karla McCain and T.M. "Mac" Devin of College Station, seven grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Marvin and Betty Davison of Dallas, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred & Mary McCain, of Denton, and a brother-in-law Lewis Williams of Richardson.

June was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Howard C. Davison and Warren Davison, sisters Myrtle Lois Davison, Daisy Mae Martin, Jewell Davison, and Frances Williams. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Tillotson Noel and Bessie Pearl Ward McCain and brothers-in-law Jerry C. McCain and Ward McCain.

Pallbearers are her grandsons Matthew McCain, Nickless Devin, Nelson Devin, and Neil Devin, as well as nephews Ray McCain and Mike McCain. Honorary pallbearers are Bob McDaniel, Nelson Martin, Shelby Martin, Guy F. McNeal, Gary Davison, Bill Lackey, Ward McCain, and Mark McCain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Cooke County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund.
