A graveside service for William Boyd Ware, 94, of Gainesville, is set for 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 29,2009 at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating.
Mr. Ware died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his home in Gainesville.
Boyd Ware was born in Cooke Co. on December 20, 1914 to William Henry and Mable Simpson Ware.
Mr. Ware married Naomi Porter on November 29, 1934 in Cooke Co. He was in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1952 he opened the Boyd Ware Co. concrete plant, and in 1978, sold it to Davis Concrete Co. of Denton. Boyd served on the board of regents of Cooke County College from 1960 to 1980. He was also a founding member of the Gainesville “Thousand Dollar Club”, a forerunner of the Cooke Co. Economic Development Foundation, serving as chairman from 1960 to 1980. He was a 50 year member of the Gainesville Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the First Christian Church, serving as chairman of the Deacons for 13 years. Boyd was also a member of the Lake Kiowa Golf Club and the Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth since 1969.
Mr. Ware is survived by his niece Charlotte Voyles of Lindsay, his great nephew Brent Voyles of Lindsay, and his friend and caregiver Glenda Ashwill.
He was preceded in death by his father William Henry Ware in 1983, his mother Mable Simpson Ware in 1927, his bothers Charles and Granville Ware, and his wife Naomi Porter Ware in 2007.
