JANETTA LEE LILLARD
Graveside services for Janetta Lee Lillard,75, of McAllen, are set for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the New Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.
Janetta Lee Lillard came into this world as Janetta Lee Laughlin in Clarendon, Arkansas on March 3, 1934. She and her family spent most of her first 18 years of life in Arkansas. Her generously kind heart compelled her to help her mother care for her three younger siblings as often as she could while she worked part time and attended school. Her mid senior year, her father found better work opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, so she traveled along with her family to begin her new life and shortly thereafter graduating at La Joya High School.
A few years later, she met her soon to be husband, JW Lillard. Immediately, he was drawn to her radiant beauty. Her face, somewhat luminous, had an olive tone to it. Her eyes were a piercingly sharp shade of grey. Her enchanting face was framed beautifully with her long brown wavy hair, with highlights glistening, which were just enough to add to her incredible smile. The attraction was mutual, creating what would inevitably become a lifetime marriage and partnership.
Janetta and JW were the owners of Magic Valley Studios, Alamo Photo Supply and Alamo Jewelry.
Janetta is survived by three children, Jerry Lillard (Robin), McAllen, Donna Layman(Danny) Holly Lake, Tx., Joanna Munoz(Joe), McAllen, one brother, Jerry Laughlin(Alamo), brother-in-law Troy Smethers, Alamo; Betty Laughlin, Pharr. 10 grandchildren; Debbie, Suanne, Dara, Danielle, Daven, Justin, Jarred, Jami, Jacob and Hannah, plus 15 great-grandchildren. In addition, she has left behind many cousins, nieces and nephews and a multitude of loving friends.
Although she will be missed, knowing we have lost a treasure here on earth, there is comfort in knowing she has entered the kingdom of heaven and and will be greeted by those loved ones, in which she was preceded in death; her husband, JW Lillard; her mother and father, Joseph and Esther Laughlin; daughter, Gloria Laughlin; sister, Sue Smethers and brother, Bert Laughlin.
