Funeral services for Naomi Morrow, 86, of Gainesville are set for Friday October 16, 2009 at 2 P.M. at the Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Ben Willingham and Gene Davenport officiating. Mrs. Morrow passed away at Pecan Tree Manor Nursing Home October 13, 2009. Burial will follow in the Oak grove Cemetery in Gainesville.
Naomi was born November 4, 1922 to Elmer David and Nellie Eva Whitt Davis in Gainesville, Texas. Nomi was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ. She worked as a nursing aid at Denton State School for almost 12 years and at Gainesville Memorial Hospital for almost 9 years. She was an avid gardener, cook, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Naomi married Raymond Griffith on July 23, 1937 and William Morrow on December 25, 1984.
Naomi is survived by: daughter: Lela Nell and husband Steve Ward of Gainesville, Starla Dawn and husband Steve Blaylock of Gainesville; sons: William David Griffith and wife Carolyn of Gainesville, Johnny Michael Griffith of Gainesville, and Anthony Brent Griffith of Gainesville a sister: Avinelle Turner of Clovis, New Mexico. ; and 21 grandchildren, 42 great - grandchildren, 43 great – great grandchildren, and 4 great – great – great grandchildren.
Naomi preceded in death by her husband’s: Raymond Griffith and William Morrow; a daughter: Raima Dean Hooper; sister: Mami Ruth Reath; brothers: Bert Davis, Thomas Thayer Davis, Weldon Davis, Wayne Davis, and Roy Dale Davis; and grandchildren: Stephanie Dawn Blaylock, Matt Porter, Joy Dean Hooper, and Orville Kelly Terry.
In lieu of flowers send memorial contributions to Cooke county Home Hospice. Visitation is set for Thursday October 15, 2009 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Naomi’s grandsons will serve as pallbears. You may sign the on – line registry at www.geojcarroll.com.
