Funeral services for Josie V. Turner will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday July 23, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Sanger with the pastor Dr. E.L. Mc Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, TX. There is no visitation planned. Services are under the direction of the Geo J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville, TX.

Mrs. Turner passed away on Sunday July 19, 2009. She was born on November 24, 1913 in Sanger to W.T. and Nancy Collins. After graduating from Sanger High School in 1932, she married O.S. Turner on March 25, 1935. He preceded her in death in 2002 after more than 67 years of marriage. They lived in several southern states due to O.S.'s career in the oil industry.

Mrs. Turner was a long time member of Grand Avenue Baptist of Gainesville, TX. She served as a room mother in her children's school and worked for Montgomery Ward Company as a sales clerk. She especially enjoyed children, babysitting at the Gainesville Bowling Alley for several years, and loved being with her grandchildren and great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Turner is survived by a son and wife, David and Kathy Turner; a daughter and husband, Leschen and Jim Crawford; Grandchildren, Bill and Libreta Turner, Michael Turner, Phillip and Priscilla Crawford, Shari Crawford, and Jon and Linda Turner. Her great - grandchildren are Clara, Eliot, Laney, Sara, David, and Daniel. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, O.S. Turner; a baby daughter; a son, Charles Turner; a granddaughter, Tracey Turner; brothers, Frank and Blanton Collins; sisters, Ruth Smith, Willie Mahanay, Nannie Mae Boydston, Nina Newton, and Elizabeth Collins.
