Funeral Services for Donald W. Gilmore, 74, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 am Monday September 14. 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the burial to follow at the Blue Bonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville at 2:30 pm. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday September 13, 2009 at the funeral home.
Donald was born October 13, 1934 in Temple to George Nolan and Mildred Forrest Gillmore. Don graduated Temple High School in 1952. He Married Peggy Wheeler on November 29, 1953 in Sweetwater. Don was a member of the Hurst Masonic Lodge for over fifty years, member of the Lake Kiowa MGA, and also a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville. He retired from the railroad, and later retired from Bell Helicopter after 25 years of service. Don enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing, but most of all, he loved riding his John Deere Tractor.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Gilmore of Gainesville, daughter and son in law Debbie and Carl Naehritz of Mansfield, son and daughter in law Greg and Sharon Gilmore of Keller, granddaughters Ashley Robinson of Plano, Brittany Gilmore of Keller, and a grandson Nathan Gilmore of Keller. He is also survived by his brothers Bobby Gilmore of Ft. Worth, and Dale Gilmore of Austin, and sisters Linda Anderson of Waco, and Sherry Black of Kileen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
