Imogene Parker Rivoire

Funeral services for Imogene Parker “Muvie” Rivoire, 89, will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Temple Baptist Church with Eddie Chennault officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rivoire passed away at her home on September 15, 2009.

She was born on August 9, 1920, to Arthur McKinley and Eugenia Byers Parker in Gainesville, Texas. She graduated from Newsom Dougherty Memorial High School in 1938.

Parker married Milton Rivoire on June 20, 1942, in Gainesville by Baptist Minister Dr. T. Hollis Epton. They were married 41 years before Milton died in 1983. From their union they had one daughter, Vikki Johnene born on November 23, 1946, at the Gainesville Sanitarium.

Parker worked 25+ years for Dr. Gordon S. Yeargan, Jr. at Refinery Road Veterinary Clinic. She was an active member of the PTA at Benjamin Franklin, and City Council PTA. She was a Brownie Leader and mom extraordinaire. Parker was a Charter Member of Temple Baptist Church. She was a member of the Sunshine Ladies and the 4F Group. She was Sunday school secretary until illness kept her from attending. She talked daily with her granddaughters and could still beat them in card games.

Mrs. Rivoire was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister and brother-in-law Marie and John Hays, sister and brother-in-law Martha Ellen and Bailey Roberts. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Conner and Loree Rivoire Blagg, Bud and Polly Rivoire, Dolly Rivoire Dillard and Doye Doty, Jesse and Virginia Rivoire, Buddy and Lucille Rivoire Autry, Marie Rivoire Cotton and Clarence Turbeville, and Kenneth Rivoire.

Survivors are her daughter Vikki Estes, beloved son-in-law David Estes, granddaughters Melissa Freeman of Irving, Melanie Freeman of Gainesville and Gina Estes Simons of Round Rock, great-granddaughters Kristina and Brooke Simons, nephew and wife Jimmy and Margie Randles of Granbury, niece and husband Rosalie and Chuck Miller of Andrews, and sister-in-law Olivia Rivoire, brothers-in-law Wayne Dillard and Sam Cotton. Nieces DuAnn Doty Jenson, Sharon Rivoire, Debbie Doty Baker, Renae Rivoire Leftwich, Ronda Rivoire Perry, nephews Bobby Don Doty, Ronnie Autry, Robbie Autry, Randy, Mike and Danny Turbeville and Rory Rivoire.

Pall bearers are: Kendal Blakey, Mike Hamer, Gary Hillis, Ricky Huddleston, Gil Mashburn and Gary O’Dell. Honorary pall bearers: Dr. Marvin Knight, Jr. and Dr. Jim Neidhardt.

The family would like to thank Nurse Debbie Perry and staff of Home Hospice of Cooke County and all her caregivers Ellen, Martha and Ryne for all their loving and comforting efforts during her illness.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Parker Rivoire to Temple Baptist Church Gainesville, or Home Hospice of Cooke County, Gainesville.

A visitation is planned for 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 2009 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
