Lou Spoon Meyer

Graveside services for Lou Spoon Meyer, 83, of Gainesville, are set for 10:00 AM Wedesday, April 1, 2009, at the Callisburg Cemetery with Ben Willingham of the Callisburg Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.



Mrs. Meyer died March 29, 2009, at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a prolonged illness.



She was born on August 12, 1925, in Callisburg, Texas to Luther Daniel and Eula Foy (Emerson) Spoon. On May 17 1947, she married Ben E. Meyer in Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Meyer was a long-time member of the Broadway Church of Christ; most recently a member of the Callisburg Church of Christ. She was a supervisor for Lorch Company from 1966 to 1987, and was custodian of the Broadway Church of Christ from 1987 to 2006.



Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barry and Paula Britain of Gainesville; and Mark and Cheryl Skaggs of Ponder; grandchildren, Blaine and Heather Britain, and Clint and Tiffany Britain, all of Gainesville; one great-granddaughter, Alexia Britain, also of Gainesville. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Annette Spoon of El Paso, three sisters-in-law, Dixie Spoon of Amarillo; Joreen Spoon of Sherman, Mary Ann Spoon of El Paso, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.



Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers: Harry Dan Spoon of Callisburg, Bobby Spoon of Sherman, Roy Spoon of El Paso, Billy Spoon of Amarillo; one sister-in-law, Fern Spoon of El Paso; one niece; and one nephew.



No visitation is planned.
