BILLIE JUNE SMITH BRITAIN

Graveside services for Billie June Smith Britain, 84, of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at New Resthaven Cemetery with Ben Willingham of the Callisburg Church of Christ, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mrs. Britain died March 25, 2009, at Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a prolonged illness.

She was born on July 17, 1924, in Cisco to John and Ella (Latham) Smith. On Nov. 5, 1944, she married Bill Britain in Eastland. She was a long-time member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Gainesville. She worked in real estate in the Gainesville area, most recently as the owner of Britain Realty. She also worked for many years in the insurance office of Don Lester.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Paula Britain, Mark and Devone Britain of Gainesville and Tommy and Mary Jo Britain of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Blaine and Heather Britain, Clint and Tiffany Britain, Tambra Britain and Shane and Katie Britain, all of Gainesville; great-granddaughter, Alexia Britain of Gainesville; brother, Gene Smith, of Abilene and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Britain; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Willis Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Johnny Ridgeway; sister-in-law, Mildred Smith and one nephew.

No visitation is planned.
