Opal C Blanton

Opal Blanton, 98, of Gainesville went to be with her Lord on November 22, 2010. Opal was born on August 22, 1912 in Rosston, TX to Sterling and Edna Durham Blanton. She attended school at Ross Point in Rosston and continued her education to become a beauty operator in Gainesville.

Opal married Grady Hill Blanton in Marietta, OK on July 12, 1937 and had one son, Grady Don, where she was not only a homemaker, but enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, and her many activities at the Calvary Baptist church. As years passed by, she discovered another passion in her life was to refurbish furniture at the "Renew Shop" in downtown Gainesville.

Opal is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Don and Joy Blanton of Gainesville; grandson and wife: Brian and Laura Blanton of Gainesville; great-grand daughter: Mikayla Dawn Blanton of Gianesville, Kristy and Todd Brown of Sanger; and many nephews and nieces.

Opal is preceded in death by her husband Grady Hill Blanton, parents: Sterling and Edna Durham, brother RB Durham Sr. and sister Gladys Balthrop.

Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 24, 2010 at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Luke Smith of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
