Funeral Services for Lewis Bernard Morris, 72 beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman with Rabbi Anna Bonnheim officiating. The family visitation service will be held Thursday, December 16 at the funeral Home from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
Mr. Morris passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Lewis was born on May 11, 1938 in Glasgow, Scotland. He served two years in the Royal Fusiliers. He moved to the United States in 1986 where he worked in sales and management. He and his wife, Melody retired and moved to Gainesville in 2001 to be near children and grandchildren.
Lewis went to work at Wal-Mart where he helped setup the “Connection Center”. Working with his fellow work-mates and the customers became a joy. He was soon known by his Scottish accent and his keen sense of humor. He worshipped at Temple Beth Emeth in Sherman. But in 2010, his health began to wain. In December he was diagnosed with brain cancer.
He is survived by wife Melody of Gainesville, daughters, Sharon Connoley of London, England, Tracey Jones of Lakewood, Co.; sons Martin Morris of the Hague, The Netherlands, Paul Morris of Noordwyk, The Netherlands, step-sons David Record of College Station, Matt Record of Gainesville, step-daughter Lynn Allen of Denton, and 13 grandchildren; his brothers Michael Morris of Florissant, Colo., Stephen Morris of Essex, U.K., and his sister Shirley Morris of Beaverton, Oregon.
