GLADYS PEARSON



Funeral services for Gladys Pearson, 92, of Gainesville, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Henderson and Rev. Roslyn Eugster officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Funeral Home.



Mrs. Pearson died August 28, 2010 at the North Texas Medical Center.



Gladys Pearson was born May 13, 1918 in Salisaw, OK to Charles R. and Roxanne (Brown) Smith. They later moved to Barnsdall, OK where her father worked in the oil field as a pumper. Gladys attended school in Barnsdall. Later she worked as a night operator for Oklahoma Telephone Company. It later became General Telephone of the Southwest. She was transferred to Texas and worked in several locations, including Borger, Sherman, And Garland. In 1968 she married Gerald Pearson. Before retiring in 1971 form General Telephone she worked in Denton.



Gladys enjoyed many hobbies but was most talented as a painter. She took lessons for several years form Mildred Hoffman who was a local Gainesville artist. She also liked to travel. She and her husband made numerous trips in travel groups to Canada and throughout the United States.



She was the last of eight children. She will be missed by all who knew her.



She is survived by her husband Gerald Pearson, three nieces and two nephews.
