It is with deep sadness but also extreme joy that we announce the death yet new heavenly life of our wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Kathryn Mae Schierling Kaiser. Kathy passed unexpectedly from this world on October 10, 2007, at Harrris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 66.
Kathy was born on August 27, 1941, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Isaac F. and Marie Thiessen Schierling. The youngest of four children, Kathy grew up a daddy’s girl, was shy in her younger years, but developed into a popular high school student. She attended schools in McPherson, Kan., where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Kaiser, on February 11, 1961. Upon graduating from high school, she completed one year at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kan. She accepted a calling of homemaking where she brought to it a new level of honor, dignity and respect.
Ken and Kathy had six children. They moved from the McPherson area in 1964, raising their children in Dallas, Irving and Euless before settling in Gainesville, Texas, in 1977. Together, in a garage apartment, they established Chancellor Manufacturing Inc. Along with her husband, Kathy continued as co-owner and operator until the time of her death. She and Ken have been active parishioners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 30 years.
Trustworthy and devoted wife, loving and caring mother, and faithful friend are a few ways to remember Kathy. Her children were the pride and joy of her life and mere words cannot express all that she was and passed on to them. Her generous, sacrificial spirit was evident to all who knew her. In keeping with this spirit, she gave the gift of life through organ donation. Kathy has always loved the Lord, and passed onto her family a strong legacy of faith. She was considered the rock of her family, their biggest fan, and the wind beneath her family’s wings. There are so many memories that will be cherished forever.
Kathy loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, reading and gardening and she was an active member of the Gainesville Garden Club. Her fondest times were her family gatherings and staying active in her grandchildren’s lives. In our time of grieving, we have an assurance she is dwelling in her heavenly home with Jesus, and we celebrate her life and all that Kathy was to so many people.
Kathy left a legacy of love. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ken Kaiser; and by her 6 children and in-laws, son, Mark Kaiser and wife, Kim of Stephenville, Texas; daughter, Susie Williams and husband, Johnny of Gainesville; daughter, Jackie Kaiser of Pflugerville, Texas; son, Scott Kaiser and wife, Melanie of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Diana Thomson and husband, Sean of Frisco, Texas; and daughter, Kari Paegle and husband, Chris of Cedar Park, Texas. Surviving grandchildren are Dustin and Kristin Kaiser; Mindy, Luke, Lance and Molly Williams; Morgan, Anna, Sarah and Clay Kaiser and Abby Thomson. Surviving also are brother, Richard Schierling and wife, Pat; sisters, Ruth Flohr and husband, Ralph, and Shirley Stara and husband, Gene; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Carol Kaiser, Imogene and Tom Gagliardi, Tom and Donna Kaiser, and Steve Kaiser; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Marie Schierling and Ken’s parents, Leo and Dorothy Kaiser.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007. Memorial contributions can be made to Texas Alliance for Life Trust Fund; P.O. Box 49137; Austin, TX 78765.
