ARLINGTON — Services for Margaret Marshall, 84, of Arlington are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. John Hare, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Marshall died Aug. 25, 2008, in Arlington.
She was born May 6, 1924, in Warren, Penn., to Guy and Sara Crooks Johnson. On May 2, 1947, she married William D. Marshall in Fort Worth. She graduated from Rush Presbyterian-Columbia University School of Nursing in 1945. She accepted the position of clinic nurse at Texas Christian University. She later became director of the Planned Parenthood Facility in Fort Worth. She accompanied her husband to Chicago when his job dictated and she became the United Fund director in Park Ridge, Ill. Following that, she became director of volunteer services at the Rush North Shore Hospital. She was the first woman member of the Skokie, Ill., Rotary Club.
Survivors include her sons, Peter Marshall of Barrington, Ill., and Guy Marshall of Fort Worth; and daughter, Joan Bennett of Arlington; five grandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Marshall of Gainesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Marshall on Oct. 31, 1989; an infant brother; sister, Vera Phililps; and her parents.
