JOHNNIE WARD

Services for Johnnie Ward, 73, of Gainesville are set for 1 p.m. today at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.

Mr. Ward died July 25, 2008, at Gainesville Convalescent Center.

He was born April 7, 1935, in Wynnewood, Okla., to Howard and Esther Reece Ward. He was a retired employee of the former F.E. Schmitz Shoe Factory. He was a member of the Old Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brothers, Howard Ward Jr. of Rusk and Roy Ward of Gainesville; sister, Maire Wilson of Gainesville, Ola Mae Jefferson of Ardmore, Okla., and Esther Johnson of Gainesville; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Billie Fay Ward of Lewisville; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Andrew and Troy Ward.

Pallbearers are Allen and Tommy Wilson, Earnest Lane, Billy Wayne Jefferson, Robert and Rodney Johnson and J.T. Jefferson.

Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Sunday.
