Donald D. Armstrong

Services for Donald D. Armstrong, 79, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Murphy, O.S.A. officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Armstrong died Nov. 6, 2007 at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born Oct. 23, 1928 in Mexia to Grady and Ruby Lynn Armstrong.

On Dec. 3, 1949, he married Geraldine Wilson in Longview.

He graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1946 and was employed by Sinclair Oil & Gas Company and ARCO Oil & Gas Company until his retirement on July 31, 1985.

Survivors include his wife Geraldine Armstrong of Gainesville, daughters and sons-in-law Dana and Jim Moss of Woodbine, Lola and Arch Britton of Gainesville, Nikki and Ronny Muller of Valley View, Trice and Jody Henry of Lindsay, step-son and his wife Bob and Dixie Allen of Spring, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Joy and Earl Hancock and sister-in-law Martha Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Glenn Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Wayne Cler and Leonard Wiese.

Visitation is planned for 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
