Services for Dane Samuel Bezner, 16, of Walnut Bend Community, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Rev. Dennis Perry of Walnut Bend Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sharrock Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Dane went home to heaven Nov. 5, 2007. He battled health issues during the last six months of life while hospitalized at Baylor Medical Center and Our Children’s House at Baylor in Dallas. Dane was born in Oxfordshire, England, Dec. 10, 1990. He is the son of Paul and Donna Magers-Bezner. Dane was a special olympics athlete. Dane never allowed his physical and health struggles define his tremendous abilities. He had a gift of nurturing others. He always had a smile and a happy attitude. Dane was most recently a junior at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas. He previously attended Muenster High School, Walnut Bend Elementary School and Gainesville ECI program.

Survivors include his parents Paul and Donna Magers-Bezner, sister Anna Bezner, Shelby Burt and brother Ezekiel Burt, sister-in-law Michelle Burt and nephews Nick, Chris, Riley and Jace. Also surviving is grandmother Patricia Bezner of Gainesville, aunt and uncles Jerry and Donna Sconce, Carl and Karen Endres, Tommy and Cathy Bezner, Shelly Bezner-Hodges and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Donald Bezner, Dr. Morris Magers, and Margaret Magers. He was also preceded in death by sister BreeAnn and brother Joey. Pallbearers are Jerry, Chad and Cody Sconce, Mike Davis and Frank Pinto. Visitation will be at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday.
