LAKE KIOWA — Services for Leslie “Les” E. Wright, 86, of Lake Kiowa are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church in Gainesville with Pastor Scott Sundbye officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in DFW National Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Wright died Nov. 7, 2007, at Gainesville Convalescent Center.
He was born March 29, 1921, in Rock Island, Ill., to Frank Earl and Edith Anderson Wright. On May 24, 1942, he married Martha Kubow in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1938. He entered the Army Corps on Feb. 6, 1943, and served as a navigator and bombardier on a B-26 bomber during World War II. He was discharged as a first lieutenant on Jan. 24, 1946. Following this separation, he joined the Ridel Printing Company in Denver and retired as purchasing agent and vice president. After retirement, he joined Laborers for Christ and helped build 12 churches.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Wright of Lake Kiowa; son, Steve Wright of Lake Kiowa; and sibling, Marilyn Wendland of Rock Island, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
