William Thomas Ball

Private graveside services will be held for William “Bill” Thomas Ball, 91, of Gainesville at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Hubert Wright and Renyolds Ansley officiating.

Mr. Ball died March 24, 2010 at the North Texas Medical Center.

Bill was born March 3, 1919 in Gainesville to Elbridge and Ethel Rowland Ball. He joined the US Navy in 1942 and taught anti-submarine warfare in the intelligence division in Norfolk, VA. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Betty Jean Smith in Houston on November 27, 1947. He was a rancher and a real estate broker for most of his life.

Mr. Ball is survived by his wife Betty Jean Ball of Gainesville and his son Ernest Ball of Gainesville.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother Mrs. W. D. Rowland.
