Funeral Mass for Richard L. Woodrum, 82, of Gainesville, will be at 1:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2010 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Valley View with Fr. Joseph Meledom officiating. The burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. A rosary will be held 6:00 PM and a visitation at 7:00 PM Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Woodrum died March 2, 2010 at the Muenster Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born July 9, 1927 in Huntington, WV to Bennie Daniel and Goldie Mae Watson Woodrum. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Pacific Theater in WWII. He owned and operated James’ Shoe and Boot Repair in downtown Gainesville for 17 years. He was a retired member of the International Printing Pressman’s Union and was a 45 year member of the Elks Club.
Mr. Woodrum is survived by his wife Irene McCloskey Woodrum of Gainesville, son Bernard Woodrum of Krum, daughter Anita Woodrum of Richardson, daughter and son in law Rita and Mike Phelps of Keller, daughter Peggy Reuling of Krum, daughter and son in law Bonnie and Steve Dektor of Keller, son Neil Woodrum of Montana, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
