Gladys Marie Bezner

Gladys Marie Bezner, 84 of Lindsay, joined her loved ones in heaven at 1:20 a.m. Friday, October 15th, 2010, at The Vintage Skilled Nursing Home of Denton. She was born June 10th, 1926 in Sherman, TX to Joseph B. Wilde and Loretta Eberhart Wilde.

Gladys grew up in Muenster and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1944. She attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948.

She married John Rufus Bezner of Lindsay on November 9th, 1949 in Muenster, TX at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Gladys was a schoolteacher for 40 years. She taught at Gainesville State School, Muenster ISD, Lindsay ISD, and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Gainesville. She also taught religion classes at St Peter’s and St Mary’s Parishes. For many years she played the piano and organ for St Peter’s Choir and at Lindsay High School graduations. She also taught piano lessons in her home.

Survivors include: daughters and spouses, Carol Marie & Bruce Ravellette of St. Francisville, IL. Mary Kay & Richard Fisher of Denton, TX. Son, John Rufus “Jay” Bezner of Lindsay and Daughter-in-law, Sharon Bezner of Lake Worth TX.
Brother and spouse, Ray & Marcy Wilde of Muenster, TX, and sister Laurie Bezner of Hurst, TX. 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents Joe & Loretta Wilde, an infant brother Robert Wilde, her husband John Rufus, children, infant daughter Sharol, sons Jeffrey and Rick Bezner.

A Rosary Vigil will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19,2010, 7:00p.m. at George J. Carroll Funeral Home, Gainesville, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Oct.20, 2010, 10:30a.m.at Centennial Hall, Lindsay, TX. Fr. Raymond McDaniel will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Richard, Drew and Wade Fisher, Bruce, Thomas, and Russel Ravellette, Rufus E. “Reb” Bezner and Caleb Cox.
