AMELIA F. “MIMI” HAUGH

Amelia F. "Mimi" Haugh of Gainesville passed away on Jan. 27, 2010 in Denton at the age of 84.

Mimi Haugh was born Sept. 2, 1925 in Clarksburg, W. Va. to Hunter L. Fisher and Amelia (nee. Martin) Fisher. She married Harry T. "Bud" Haugh on June 4, 1948 in Clarksburg, W. Va.

Mimi attended Clarksburg schools and graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1943. She attended nurses training in Baltimore, Md. for a year before changing her vocation to education. She graduated from Fairmont State College in 1948. Mimi and Bud married in 1948 and both started teaching in small, rural West Virginia schools.

Bud started a 32 year career with Continental Emsco, which moved them to many states, and Mimi became a stay-at-home mom. In 1984 they retired and moved to Lake Kiowa.

Mimi enjoyed golf, bridge, cooking and entertaining family and friends. She was passionate about knitting, quilting and needlework, and most of all her husband of 60 years.

Mimi Haugh was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents and her brother.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Haugh, of Gainesville; son, Jan Haugh and daughter-in-law Jana, of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Sean Haugh of Seattle, Wash., Amanda Hendrix, Austin Haugh and great-granddaughter, Haleigh Hendrix, all of Fort Worth.

There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County or charity of donors choice.
