Charlie Links

Funeral services for Charlie W. Links 86, of gainesville are set for monday november 2, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the geo. j. carroll and son chapel with the Reverend David Whittington officating with burial to follow in Fairview cemetery. The family will receive friends on sunday november 1, 2009 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charlie was born on June 9, 1923 in Rosston Tx to Jesse and Vernon Links. He worked at serveral places until he was employed by Central Freight Lines where he retired after 31 years. On October 9,1943 he married Virginia Ware of woodbine. He enjoyed watching football and the Texas Rangers Baseball. Charlie was always looking for new ball caps to add to his collection.

Charlie raised six boys and four girls including Glenn & Terrie Links of Az., Ricky Links of Woodbine Tx, Mark & Carol Links of Frisco Tx, Terry & Debbie Wood Links of Irving Tx, Cody Links of Sherman Tx and Justin Links of Sherman Tx. Daughters Billie and Francis Wiesman of Converse Tx, Shirley welch of Justin, Tx Wanda Links of McKinney Tx and Sherry & ron Hageman of Grapevine Tx. Sisters Lorene Caulfield of Ca., Maxine Colston of Ok, and Imogene Smith of Gainesville. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Vernon Links, a brother Jessie Links and sister Wanda Ruth Links. Charlie has 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
