Alan R. Sanders, 66, of Lake Kiowa, passed away December 30, 2021.

Alan was born May 15, 1955 at Fort Hood, Killeen, TX.  He was raised in Jacksonville, TX and following high school, served in the U.S. Army.  He married Judy Ann Gilchrest on March 12, 1975 in Stinnett, TX, and the two began a union that would produce four daughters.  Other than spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mr. Sanders most enjoyed his “front porch sittin’ time.”

Survivors include: wife, Judy Sanders of Lake Kiowa; daughter, April Sanders Burgess and spouse, Shaun Lee of Gainesville; daughter, Amy Sanders of Gainesville; daughter, Jenny Sanders of Mansfield; daughter, Amanda Sanders of Gainesville; grandchildren: Cheyenne Burgess and spouse, Matt Teremy, Kaytlynn Brown and spouse, Connor Nelms, Kalie and Jennifer Brandle, Brady Burgess, Grayson Littierre, and Connor Lee; three great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Robert Sanders and wife, Kristi of Denison; sister, Kelly Sanders of Denton; nephew, Chris Sanders of Austin; and sister-in-law, Debbie King and husband, Kevin of Austin.

Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by: father, Dave Sanders, Jr.; mother, Joyce Surlow; and son-in-law, Brandon Burgess.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at First Christian Church of Gainesville with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to an organization that funds cancer research.
