Angie Shenk went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2025. A loving and amazing woman who will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her family and friends. A beloved wife and mother who lived her life to the fullest, whether with family and friends, at work, or most of all serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Gainesville, Texas. The family will begin receiving friends at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church Gainesville with the memorial starting at 10 a.m.
History
Born on April 29, 1958 in Gainesville, TX to Jesse and Nan Richeson. Angie graduated from Gainesville High School in 1976 and began her 32-year career as a Federal Civil Servant. She first worked for the Office of Personnel in Dallas, TX as a clerk. Soon after she moved to San Diego, CA to work for the U.S. Marshals Service, and then for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at MCC San Diego where she moved up from legal clerk to supervisor. It was here that she met her future husband, Lee and continued joking to people that she and Lee met in prison. Angie transferred to MCC Chicago IL. After almost two years, she received her big promotion and transferred to FCC in Englewood, CO as Inmate Systems Manager, remaining here until she retired in 2008.
In 1989 Angie and Lee were married in Kenosha, WI. Soon after moving to Colorado, their son Chris was born in 1990. Being a wife and mother was the greatest joy Angie had during her life. The three of them had fun making memories at home and on their many trips throughout the country. After retiring, Angie took great joy in being a super-mom by being at Chris’s school and all his sporting events.
While in Colorado, Angie was an active member of Southside Bible Church. Angie opened her home to those in need, providing housing for unwed mothers and family members when they fell on hard times.
Always thinking of herself as a life-long Texan, in 2016 Angie and Lee moved to Gainesville, Texas. Here she was able to care for her mother and father in the family’s hometown. Angie was an active member of First Baptist Gainesville. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the adult ministry team, nursery room helper, and Operation Christmas Child volunteer.
Angie was an active volunteer in the community. Volunteering for CASA, Meals on Wheels, and the Morton Museum. Angie was actively involved in the Gideons ministry as the auxiliary President giving out God’s Word. Angie was also a host for Camp Copass.
One of Angie’s great joys was being an aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Along with being a proud parent to all her dogs throughout the years. She loved spending time with all her friends throughout the years, especially going on her chick trips with girlfriends, her sisters, and nieces.
