Anna Jo Sears, 94, of Lake Kiowa, passed away on March 23, 2022 in Gainesville.
Anna Jo was born March 12, 1928 in Amarillo. She was a graduate of McMurry College in Abilene. While attending college, she met her future husband, Virgil Sears, and the couple married in 1948. She was a talented artist, dedicated Bible study leader, and caregiver for much of her life, including her younger siblings, parents, mother-in-law, and husband. She was a prayer warrior and had the gift of hospitality, welcoming others into her home. She also enjoyed the outdoors and travel. Wherever they lived, Anna Jo was actively involved in their church, and she served as a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship for many years in the Dallas, Abilene, and Denton groups. She was a member of Whaley United Methodist Church for the past 30 years and served as a volunteer at North Texas Medical Center.
Anna Jo was preceded in death by: husband of 64 years, Virgil G. Sears; parents, Clay V. and Ina R. (Redwine) Knox; and brothers, Gordon Knox and David Knox.
Survivors include: sister, Reita Norman; son, Dr. Glenn Sears and wife, Carolyn of Denton; son, Dr. Larry Sears and wife, Kathy of Gainesville; daughter, Vicki Adsit and husband, Bob; grandchildren: Laura and Robert Bong, Christopher and Eve Sears, Timothy and Shannon Sears, Alan and Mariana Sears, Emily Sears, Lance and Sabrina Adsit, Brian Sears, and Grant and Deby Adsit; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Eddie Chenault officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m.
