Arthur F. Anglin, Jr. of Denton, Texas went peacefully to his Lord and Savior on September 12, 2019 at the age of 85. Arthur was born in Wellington, Texas, and was the next to youngest child of Arthur Sr. and Mary Alice (Hudson) Anglin. His parents and his siblings; Tony Anglin, Thurman Anglin, Herman Anglin, Virgil Anglin, all predeceased him. He was a resident of Texas the majority of his life, with a couple of short stints of living in New Mexico and California.
At an early age, he along with his family, moved from Texas to Fence Lake, New Mexico and finally to Riverbank, California. He attended Oakdale High School and then enlisted into the United States Air Force and served from September 1952 until September 1956, during the years of the Korean conflict. Upon completion of basic training he was ordered to Bryan Air Force Base, in Bryan Texas. He served his entire four years at the Bryan Air Force base where he trained and served in crash and rescue operations. Upon completion of service he received an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force in September of 1956 at the rank of Staff Sargent.
While serving in the Air Force Arthur met Gladys Kammerdiener one Sunday morning at the College Station Church of Christ. Gladys was attending Texas A&M University at the time. They were married in December, 1953. At the time of his passing, they had celebrated 65 blissful years together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Arthur is survived by his wife Gladys (Kammerdiener), their children; Mark (Patty), Fil (Kathy), Jason (Carol), seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Arthur was a Godly man and lifelong member of the Church of Christ. He served as an Elder in the Church while attending both the Hillcrest Church of Christ and the Commerce Street Church of Christ, both in Gainesville, Texas.
Throughout his life Arthur held many jobs to support his family however ranching was his passion. From dairying in Texas, to raising feeder cattle in California, to operating a cow-calf operation back in Texas he was proud of his connection with the cattle industry. He was happiest when he was doing anything associated with ranching including: marking calves, baling hay, mowing pasture, or visiting the local livestock sales yard. He was a member of the Red River Cooperative, Cooke County Farm Bureau, Callisburg Community Club, Callisburg Cemetery Association, American Legion Post 271, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Arthur and Gladys were great travelers. When the children were young it was mostly to visit family in Texas traveling by car. After retirement they expanded their range and mode of travel reaching Canada, Mexico, and many parts of the United States. Additionally, they were gracious hosts and hosted many nights of playing the domino game ‘forty-two’ with their good friends.
The time came to slow down and a move was made to the Good Samaritan Society, Denton Village in Denton, TX. They adjusted to a smaller life but continued to be active in the Church while attending the Sherman Drive Church of Christ. They always made great friends wherever they were.
The family would like to thank everyone from the Good Samaritan Society, Denton Village and the Texas Home Health & Hospice who so lovingly attended to his comfort and care.
