Barbara Bernauer Dunlap

Barbara Bernauer Dunlap, 83, of Gainesville, passed away August 9, 2022 in Denton.

Barbara was born June 1, 1939 in Gainesville.  She was raised in Gainesville and graduated from Gainesville High School.  Barbara worked as a homemaker, for the City of Gainesville, and retired from Mary Kay.  Most of her time was spent serving and caring for others, especially her family.  Barbara adored watching her grandchildren and socializing with family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling and was always open to an adventure or new experiences.  Barbara was a devoted member of Custer City Baptist Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by: parents Stoner and Ruby (Snider) Proffer; and brother Gary Proffer.

Survivors include: daughter Lisa Hammer of Gainesville; son Chuck Bernauer and wife Ann of Gainesville; daughter Connie Bernauer of Sherman; grandchildren: Heather Owens, Jordan Sanders and husband Lee, Amber Shell, Jami West and husband Dax, Kaylie Owens, Jayme Bajula, Lynzie Trammell and husband Gary, and Melaney Genneken and husband Kyle; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Elaine Proffer.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Custer City Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Custer City Baptist Church.
