Barbara “Babs” Jolene Rickert Barrett, 77, of Gainesville, TX, passed away January 3, 2023 in Gainesville.
Barbara was born March 10, 1945 in Dublin, TX. She graduated from Bel Air High School in El Paso, TX and was a member of the Skyhawks Roller-skating Dance Team in El Paso. Barbara married Carl F. Rickert, Jr. on August 28, 1961. After moving to the Gainesville area, she earned her Associate of Science degree with Honors from Cooke County College and worked for various attorneys in Cooke County. As an employee of National Supply, Barbara became the first woman promoted to a supervisory role in the warehouse. Throughout different time periods of her life, she was a bull rider, tournament fisherwoman, huntress, Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls troop leader, bowler, softball player, and accomplished seamstress. Barbara was proud of her Comanche Native American Heritage and was a relative of Quanah Parker and Judge Roy Bean. She was a lifelong fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, especially after her interaction with several Cowboys players as a patient at Muenster Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was preceded in death by: parents Joe and Barbara (Gorman) Bean; and brother Mickey Bean.
Survivors include: daughter Carla Rickert of Gainesville; son Trey Rickert of Gainesville; grandchildren Hunter, Kira, Quint, Tashena, and T.J.; great-grandchildren Ashlyn, C.J., Hayla, Isaiah, Kallie, Nicholas, and Tambre; great-great-grandchildren Ashton, Kye, Nalina, and Nash; and former husband Carl F. Rickert, Jr. of Gainesville.
