Bernice Margaret Sicking

Bernice Margaret Sicking, 91, of Myra, passed away February 5, 2023 in Gainesville.

Bernice was born to August (Gussie) Reiter and Hilda Knabe Reiter on February 3, 1932 in Muenster.  She attended Sacred Heart School, where she was the first Football Queen, and graduated in 1950.  Mrs. Sicking managed the Muenster sewing factory for many years, providing consistency through multiple transitions.  Her true calling was that of a servant – volunteering with numerous organizations including Muenster Memorial Hospital, Muenster Museum, and Meals on Wheels (which she was instrumental in starting for Cooke County).  Mrs. Sicking was a woman of strong faith and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  She was skilled in many crafts and hobbies including cooking, sewing, gardening, and genealogy.

Survivors include: daughter Kathy Vogel and husband Larry of Myra; daughter Debora Kirchenbauer of Gainesville; daughter Paula Reiter and husband Randy of Era; son Mark L. Sicking of Muenster; son Troy Sicking and wife Dina of Muenster; daughter Marla Wolf and husband Chris of Gainesville; son Matt P. Sicking and wife Michell of Muenster; daughter Dora Erwin and husband John of Era; daughter Staci Beadles and husband Eric Qualls of Celeste; 32 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Roy Reiter of Muenster, Allen Reiter of Muenster, and Donald Reiter of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sicking was preceded in death by her parents Gussie and Hilda Reiter; father of her children Paul Sicking; brothers Jackie Reiter, Leonard Reiter, William (Billy) Reiter, and David Reiter; sisters Dolores Reiter and Patricia Reiter; grandsons Nathan Sicking and Lance Beadles; granddaughter Allison Sicking; and great-granddaughter Gracie Wolf.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.  A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Reed Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are: Rodney Vogel, Charles Johnson, Todd Reiter, Aaron Sicking, Jason Sicking, Brad Wolf, Alex Sicking, and Luke Beadles.
