SERVICES

Bettie Anne Clark, 73, of Gainesville, TX, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 in the comfort of her home. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. with interment following at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers are: Michael Sanchez, Sammy Ponce, Edgar Ramirez, Mark Gage Clark, Brian Englebright, and Austin Sparks. Honorary pallbearers are: Charles Brown and Justin Sparks.

HISTORY

Bettie was born November 19, 1948, in Kenefic, Oklahoma to Darvis Leonard and Ima Ray (Duree) Bowles. In 1964, the Bowles family moved to Gainesville, TX. Bettie worked for Brown Motor Company as an accountant for 42 years retiring in 2016.

On August 5, 1976, she married the love of her life, Hugh Thomas “Tommy” Clark. They loved to travel and spend time with family. They were also active members of the First Presbyterian Church. Bettie sang in the church choir and Cooke County Chorale for many years.

In 2001, Tommy and Bettie became guardians of their grandsons, Cale and Conner Kennedy. This allowed Bettie to experience motherhood and pass her knowledge and wisdom to her grandsons.

Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Darvis and Ima Bowles; husband, Tommy Clark; step-daughter, Dainah Clark; nephew, David Bowles; nephew, Michael Bowles; niece, Tarjia Beaver; nephew, Joe Beaver; great-niece, Victoria Kennedy; and great-nephew, Ethan Matthews.

SURVIVORS

Survivors include step-daughter, Connie Kullman and husband, Bruce of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Cale and Conner Kennedy of Gainesville, TX; brother, Muford “Lee” Bowles and wife, Jun of Pottsboro, TX; sister, Margie Matthews of Gainesville, TX; sister, Thelma Smith and husband, Mark of Gainesville, TX; sister, Barbara Bryant and husband, Larry of Valley View, TX; sister, Peggy Hamilton of Whitesboro, TX; and many nephews, nieces and friends, especially Diana Eichenberger.

DONATIONS

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, TX.
