Bettie Jean Gutmueller, age 86, longtime resident of San Antonio, TX, most recently of Gainesville, TX, passed away September 23, 2024 in Gainesville.

Bettie was born May 12, 1938 in Floresville, TX and graduated from Floresville High School.  She married Robert Gutmueller in Nassau County, NY, and began a 60-year love-filled marriage.  Mrs. Gutmueller was the consummate homemaker, devoted wife, and attentive mother.  She loved to quilt and work jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed time outdoors, was an avid gardener, and loved caring for her cats.

Survivors include: son Dean Gutmueller and wife Jennifer; daughter Terry Jones and husband Michael; son Robert Wayne Gutmueller and wife Lorah; son-in-law Patrick Keenan; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gutmueller was preceded in death by: parents A.J. and Thelma (George) Sutherland; husband Robert Allen Gutmueller; daughter Tammy Rodriguez; daughter Tracy Keenan; sister Bobbie Pennock; and brother William Jack Sutherland.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
