A graveside service for Betty Jean Ball, 91, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Ball passed away July 2, 2018 in Sanger.
Betty was born October 27, 1926 in Sulphur, OK to E.K. and Ada Elizabeth (Perdue) Smith. She attended high school in Eastland, TX. Betty was a member of the Harmony Girls, performing before then President Harry S. Truman. She also participated in the school’s Violin Octet, was a member of the Sub-Deb Club, and Camp Fire Girls.
While attending Baylor University, Betty belonged to the Kappa Gamma Sorority. During World War II, Betty was a volunteer for the Red Cross. Following the war, Betty married William Thomas Ball, a Navy wartime veteran. Betty and her husband worked together in the cattle business during the years to follow. She was a Cub Scout den mother from 1958 to 1960.
Survivors include: son Ernest L. Ball and wife Kim of Gainesville and sister Beverly June Hart of Fort Worth.
Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by: parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Smith; and husband, William Thomas Ball.
