Betty Hellinger

Betty Jo Hellinger, 81, of Gainesville, passed away September 11, 2023 in Gainesville.

Betty was born August 17, 1942 in Dexter, Texas to W. Virgil and Bertha Ward. She married Milferd Hellinger on November 25, 1987. Mrs. Hellinger worked at Beech Aircraft in Kansas before moving back to Texas and working 14 years at the Gainesville State School as a Corrections Officer. Mrs. Hellinger enjoyed assisting young adults in furthering their education through her role as a GED Examiner. She enjoyed fishing and helping friends wherever she was needed.

Mrs. Hellinger was predeceased by: parents, W. Virgil and Bertha Ward; husband of 27 years, Milferd Hellinger; son, Troy Hellinger; brother, Jack Ward; sister, Diana Waren; infant brother, Ollie W. Ward, brother-in-law, Wayne Mauldin; and son-in-law, William Womack.

Survivors include: daughter, Sabrina Ketz of Whitesboro; daughter, Cassie Fielder (James) of Denton; daughter, Terra Womack of Saint Jo; adopted son, Michael Landeros of Collinsville; grandchildren: Lesliee Alderfer (Michael), Ryan Shugart, Chloe Fielder, Levi Fielder, Colby Calabrese (Julie), Josh Calabrese, Dakota Newton, Dillon Newton (Tessa), Brittney Hellinger, Brandon Hellinger (Zoe), and Emily Hellinger (Walker); great-grandchildren: Michael Alderfer III, Landon Calabrese, Adelyn Calabrese, Lilly Calabrese, Evan Calabrese, Averie Newton, Baylor Newton, Maddie Newton, Troy Hellinger, Karli Hellinger, Harlee Boswell, and Sterling Boswell; daughter-in-law, Lucinda Lewis of West Virgina; sister, Gracie Mauldin of Denison; and brother-in-law, Ken Waren of Gainesville.
