Betty Louise King, 79, of Gainesville, passed away November 3, 2021 in Gainesville.
Betty was born July 16, 1942 in Nocona, TX to Bessie and John Wilson. She married Harley Wayne King on October 10, 1968 in Gainesville. The couple made Gainesville there home and Mrs. King cared for many houses over a 37-year career. She loved reading (especially Harlequin Romance), maintaining her flower garden, and caring for animals. Mrs. King also enjoyed her red birds and doves, country music, Hallmark movies, and NASCAR. She was a proud member of Commerce Street Church of Christ for many years. More than anything else, Mrs. King loved her family and friends and the time she spent with them.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by: parents, John and Bessie (Morrow) King; husband, Harley Wayne King; step-son, Darrel Proffitt; and brother, Johnny Wilson.
Survivors include: daughter, Tonya King Kelsey of Gainesville; step-son, Dennis Proffitt and wife, Patty of Gainesville; grandchildren: Tristan Kelsey and Jade Hale; and great-grandson, Lucas Hale.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2021, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 5 at the funeral home with Tom Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity benefiting disabled veterans or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
