Betty Ruth Nicholson, 94, of Gainesville, gained her wings on October 8, 2023 in Dallas.
Betty Ruth was born September 28, 1929 in Clarksville. A longtime Gainesville resident, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Nicholson was a caregiver and consummate provider, always willing to serve others. She enjoyed finding treasures at thrift stores and looked forward to her social meetings at Second Time Around.
Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by: parents Love and Pearlie (Ross) Latimer; husband Allison “Nicky” Nicholson; daughter Betty Ann Nicholson; son-in-law Bob Parrish; brother Roy Latimer; sister Louise Childress; brother Ben Latimer; and niece Joyce Manuel.
Survivors include: daughter Valorie Parrish of Irving; son Lynn Nicholson and daughter-in-love Ada of Dallas; grandchildren Crissy Nicholson, Sharron Clegg (Aaron), Jarrett Nicholson, and Nick Parrish (Lizzie); great-grandchildren Jai, Joshua, Jairrus, JaCobe, Kyndall, Khalyn, Karrington, Sir Isaiah, Lily Frances, and Magnolia Ruth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Viewing hours for Mrs. Nicholson are scheduled for Friday, October 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, at First Christian Church, Gainesville. Interment will follow at New Resthaven Cemetery, Gainesville.
